Project estimator: your timeline, team and tech stack in three minutes

Nine questions about what you want to build. You get the number of weeks to launch, the team it needs, a phase-by-phase plan and the tech stack we would recommend, with the reasoning behind each pick. Email the result to us for a price range.

01What are you building?

Pick the closest match. You can refine everything below.

02Which platforms?

Pick all that apply. iOS and Android share one codebase where possible.

03Where are you starting from?

Existing designs or code change how much discovery we need.

04Which features do you need?

3 selected. Each one adds build and test time.

05How much design work?

Design is usually 15–25% of a project.

06How many users in year one?

Scale changes the architecture and hosting we recommend.

07Any compliance requirements?

Pick any that apply. Leave blank if none.

08How soon do you need it?

Faster timelines need a bigger team working in parallel.

What the estimator tells you

Most early conversations about software stall on one question: how big is this, really? The estimator answers it in the terms that drive cost and risk: how many weeks to a first launch, how many people working on it, and how the time splits between discovery, design, build and testing.

It also recommends a tech stack for your answers, from the front end to hosting and monitoring, and explains each choice. A marketing website and a regulated marketplace need very different foundations, and it helps to see why before you talk to anyone.

Why there is no price on the result

Two projects with the same answers can still differ widely in cost: integrations with old systems, content that needs rewriting, or approval processes inside your company. We would rather not publish a number that turns out wrong. Send us the result instead, and we reply with a price range, then a detailed quote after a short scoping call.

How to use the result

Treat it as a starting point for a brief. The phases tell you when you will need to make decisions; the team list tells you who you will be talking to; and the stack shows what your product will depend on after launch. If the timeline is longer than you hoped, try reducing the feature list or choosing “Use our UI kit” and watch how the plan changes.

Methodology

  • Each project type has a baseline effort and timeline from typical projects of that kind.
  • Platforms scale the baseline: a second mobile platform adds less than the first because iOS and Android share one codebase.
  • Each feature adds effort and time; compliance, scale and design depth multiply them.
  • A faster pace shortens the timeline by adding people working in parallel.
  • Team roles are added when the answers call for them, for example DevOps for high scale or compliance.
  • Results are estimates for planning, not quotes. Your quote follows a scoping call.

Project estimator: questions, answered

How accurate is the estimate?
Good enough to plan with. Timelines for similar answers usually land within a few weeks of the estimate; the scoping call then fixes scope, price and date in writing.
Do you store my answers?
No. Everything runs in your browser. Your answers are only sent to us if you email the result.
Can I share the result?
Yes. The page address updates as you answer, so you can copy it and send it to a colleague.
Why recommend Astro or Next.js for websites?
Both pre-render pages so they load fast and rank well. We pick between them, or WordPress, based on who edits the site and what it connects to.
