Website maintenance and care plans: a named team that keeps it secure and running

Our care plans cover hosting, uptime monitoring, security patching, tested backups and a monthly bank of improvement hours, on a monthly fee. We also take over sites and apps built by other teams, starting with an audit.

The guide

What website and app maintenance should include

Software does not stay finished. Frameworks release security patches, certificates expire, plugins break after updates and hosting needs watching. Without someone looking after it, a site gets slower and riskier every month.

Our care plans cover managed hosting, uptime and error monitoring, security patching, tested backups and a bank of improvement hours. We also take over systems built by other teams, starting with an audit so you know exactly what you have.

Signs you need this

  • No one can say when the site was last updated
  • The developer who built it has moved on
  • You heard about downtime from a customer
  • Small changes take weeks to get done

How it works

  1. Week 1

    Audit

Code, hosting and security reviewed under NDA.

  2. Weeks 2–3

    Handover

Runbooks, credentials and knowledge transfer from your current team.

  3. Month 1

    Stabilise

Urgent patches, monitoring and backups in place.

  4. Ongoing

    Run & improve

Fixes, updates and a monthly report on uptime and hours used.

Risks we remove

What usually goes wrong with care & maintenance projects, and what we do about it.

01

Finding out about downtime from a customer

Uptime and error monitoring alert named engineers, not an inbox.

02

Backups that do not restore

Restores are tested on a schedule, and the result is in your monthly report.

03

Surprise invoices

One monthly fee, with the hours bank and response times written into the plan.

Worked example

What the first month looks like

Week one is an audit under NDA: code, hosting, dependencies, backups and access. You get a written list of risks, ordered by urgency.

Weeks two and three cover handover: credentials move into a vault, runbooks are written and monitoring goes live. From then on, patches are applied on a schedule and you get a monthly report on uptime, fixes and hours used.

An illustrative example of how we would run this kind of project, not a client case study.

Care & Maintenance: questions, answered

What is included in a care plan?
Hosting, monitoring, patching, backups, a monthly report and improvement hours. Higher tiers add faster response times and named engineers.
Can you look after a site another agency built?
Yes. We audit the code, hosting and security first, fix anything urgent, then maintain it on a monthly fee. See agency takeover for how the handover works.
How fast do you respond if the site goes down?
It depends on the plan you choose. Response times for each severity level are written into the agreement.
How does pricing work?
After a free scoping call you get a written proposal setting out the scope, the cost and a planned timeline, so you know what you are agreeing to before work starts.
Do I keep ownership of my site?
Yes. Code, content and accounts stay yours, in accounts you control. We work with delegated access.
