Palm OS: a pretend operating system that is really a website

Drag the windows, open the icons, type an idea into the terminal. Every window leads somewhere real on this site. It is a showcase of what a playful, memorable interface can be, and it still works with a keyboard and on a phone.

IS A WEBSITE.

Every icon opens a real part of Palm Leaves: our services, templates and a way to get in touch. Drag the windows around and close them. Nothing breaks.

Why build something like this?

Most business websites look alike. Sometimes a brand needs one moment people remember and share: a campaign page, a product launch or a portfolio. This desktop is our example of that kind of work.

Underneath the fun it follows the same rules as everything we build: real links, keyboard access, readable text and a layout that stacks neatly on small screens.

Methodology

  • Built as a small Preact component; the rest of this page is static HTML.
  • Windows are draggable on wide screens and stack on phones.
  • Every icon and window links to a real page on this site.

Desktop simulator: questions, answered

Can you build something this unusual for us?
Yes. Campaign pages, interactive product demos and memorable portfolio sites are a good fit. We keep them fast and accessible so the fun never gets in the way.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. On small screens the windows stack vertically instead of floating.
